According to USGS National Earthquake Information Center, There are up to 152 earthquakes in the world whose magnitudes are 6 or higher. The Indian Ocean Earthquake in 2004 even caused 228,802 people die of quake. Though there is no way to predict or avoid natural disasters like this, an adequate preparation can reduce the damage to its minimum for sure. Cooperating with Aprica, a Japan company that develops high quality child caring products; the design is an earthquake kit for child aged 7 to 10 years old. Emphasizing on reducing its contents to the minimum, the kit make it easy for children to carry in a quake, yet it offers a sense of security while one is being trapped.
My objective is to design a home-use earthquake kit for children aged 7-10 that will enable them to survive with a great sense of security at least 24 hours before rescuers can reach them.
